For most people, the photoshoot is less than 15 minutes. The Iris Portrait for Youth is two photoshoots, one for the child, and one for their iris. This likely takes up to 30 minutes.

It is difficult to give a general minimum age, but my experience suggests about 5 years. For a successful iris photo we need a few minutes of concentration and cooperation. You are probably the best person to judge whether this is possible with your child. Our tip: If the child shows interest and wants an iris photo for himself, it will most certainly work!

Absolutely! The risk of damaging the eye is based on how powerful the light is, duration of the light exposure, and the angle of the light.  We are using a strobe at 1/16th power, for 1/5000 second duration, and light is placed on an angle to the eye.  If you have specific concerns, please speak to your ophthamologist. This type of photography has been done internationally for decades.

Contact lenses create refraction and affect the quality of the image. Please remove contact lenses so that we can access the true beauty of your iris.

Green eyes feel mystical. Technically, they do not exist...at least not as pigmentation on the iris. The basic structure of an iris is always blue, caused by the refraction of light. Layered on top, is the pigment melanin, which is dark and light brown or yellow. When there is a hint of yellow above the blue, the eye appears green. Due to the high magnification of our photograph, the two primary colours can be seen separately.
